American Sign Language (ASL):

Staff who support Individuals in WCI's Deaf Supports Division, and who are not proficient in ASL, are provided the opportunity to attend American Sign Language classes, which is paid for by WCI.


Direct Care Certification Program:

WCI has successfully sponsored and supported several graduates of MassBay Community College's Direct Care Certification Program in association with the Department of Mental Retardation.  This for credit course work has resulted in a $1,000 annual salary increase for the graduates funded by the Department of Mental Retardation!  If the graduates choose to continue in their college career, their credits earned through this certification program can be used in their quest for an Association or Bachelor's Degree.


Internship and Volunteer Opportunities:

WCI has worked with many universities and colleges in Massachusetts to create Internship opportunities for students majoring in Psychology, Sociology, Deaf Studies, and American Sign Language programs.  This is coordinated through the Human Resources Department.  Please contact us at 781-899-8220 ext 117 and introduce yourself and the requirements of your Internship.

Throughout the organization, WCI needs your help.  Examples of past Volunteer supports are: Companion one evening a week; Exercise Companion to walk at a local track 3 times a week; Crafts to coordinate one to two times a month; Administrative support at WCI's Main Office.  Share a hobby; Share your time!  If you are interested in volunteering your time please contact Human Resources at 781-899-8220 or email to describe what sort of work you may like to do.
