Bedford Street Art Initiative Program
The artwork on display is a product of the Work, Community, Independence, and Art Initiative Program that has been in operation since September 2005. It was introduced into one of the 4-day programs that currently exist within the WCI agency. The idea was to add a new creative element into our already successful workshop as a way to develop new opportunities for the individuals who attend.
These abstract pieces shown are a collaborative effort of individual abilities. It takes several weeks to complete each piece as the layers of the painting and the process of creating unfolds. The canvas is transformed day by day as each individual does his or her part: sharing a design idea, laying down a base color, adding a finishing touch. Program Director and Artist Neil Wyatt and his support staff oversee the process and are currently developing new ideas such as the Birdhouse project to expand in this area.
The result of some of their efforts are proudly displayed at Watertown Savings Bank where they are hanging for viewing, in this, the first installment of their work. Each one of the paintings displayed is available for sale, to anyone who might be interested in purchasing a piece of artwork, you can place an order by filling out the order form or contacting either of the persons below.
Our endeavor to develop new business opportunities has been highly successful too. A production line of seasonal Greeting Cards based on each of the paintings, is currently underway. If you wish to purchase a box set of 4 or select your favorite individual pictures and have them made into a box set you can place an order by filling out the order form.
