24-Hour Social Supports • Residential Division WCI's Social Support Division assists Individuals with behavioral and psychiatric challenges to live and work in the community. Social Supports provides 24-hour support to Individuals with clinical challenges. These supports are heavily supported by our Clinical Department. The Clinical Supports Team (Clinical Director, Assistant Clinical Director and Clinical Assistant Responder) provides on-going consultation and staff training. The Clinical Department also responds in situations where Individuals may need increasing support at a particular time due to specific significant challenges. Social Supports has become a division of nine homes and 36 Individuals in three communities (Arlington, Brighton and Waltham) aiming to increase Individual daily living and social skills, and maintain good health. In 2003, WCI began serving young adults between the ages of 18-22 years to transition them to adult life. Although this Division can be a much more challenging program, when goals are reached, the benefits are often extremely rewarding. WCI provides an environment that enables Individuals to set and reach their goals. These goals include personal care, home maintenance, exercising, shopping for and preparing healthy meals, gaining more independence in a variety of areas, practicing good safety skills, self-advocacy, learning how to manage money, planning vacations and pursuing hobbies, community activities and interests. |
